Electronic Product

The new electronic interface for Houben–Weyl provides researchers with an opportunity to search this vast data source from their workbench. Employees from all over the world can simultaneously access the product quickly, easily, and reliably without ever needing to leave their laboratory.

As a result of Thieme Publishers' continuing drive to provide better and more user-friendly products to their customers, the original ethos of the Houben–Weyl series has been adapted to create Science of Synthesis, the standard reference work for the 21st century. Science of Synthesis offers the user with the most up-to-date information, and is edited by many of the world’s leading chemists. The electronic version, operates synergistically with the newly released electronic version of Houben–Weyl.

The electronic version of Houben–Weyl provides the user with a web-based portal that is easy to navigate and utilizes standard browser technology. The interface allows the user to search Houben–Weyl as if it were a book, letting them browse an area of interest. In addition to this logical hierarchy, the interface contains a search engine that allows them to examine the content using a variety of logical arguments and sophisticated text searching functionalities.

The electronic product can also be searched using a guide that presents families of molecules and functional groups in graphical form. By simply clicking on the structures the researcher is taken directly to the relevant articles. This allows researchers to screen the content rapidly and in a manner that is both intuitive and familiar.
