Table of Contents

Access to the individual documents of Science of Synthesis can be achieved via the interactive Table of Contents, which is always displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. Here, the user is able to constantly view their current location within the Science of Synthesis electronic product in accordance with the Science of Synthesis classification system, and use the links to move systematically around the product.

Use the yellow folders to move through the volumes, product classes, subclasses, methods, and variations to locate your desired document. The hierarchical system is the same as that of the printed version, and is organized according to the functional group to be synthesized. To display the document on the right-hand side of the screen, simply click on the title link which will open up the document under the Document View tab.

Categories or volumes in gray are those which have yet to be published.

After performing a search in either the Quick Search or Advanced Search fields, the Hits column will give the number of hit documents in that level of hierarchy, or how many hits are in that particular folder. The dot shows the location of one specific hit.

In the Section column are listed the titles associated with the current hit document in descending order of hierarchy, including the volume title, product class, product subclass, method, and variation. The user may click on any of the titles that are in blue.

The pp. column gives the number of pages in the printed version and Year gives the publication year of the volume.
