Introduction by Prof. Francois Mathey (Volume Editor):
Organophosphorus chemistry has undergone explosive growth during the last decades, especially in the chemistry of its low- and high-coordinate derivatives. Readers will easily recognise the names of some of the major contributors to these advances in the authors of the corresponding sections of this work.
Phosphorus is a major player in organic synthesis, homogeneous catalysis, and biochemistry. In composing this volume, I have been fortunate enough to get the contributions of some of the best specialists working at the interfaces between these domains and organophosphorus chemistry. This volume of Science of Synthesis thus has the added value of being a bridge between synthesis and key applications.
