Volume 20b: Three Carbon—Heteroatom Bonds: Esters and Lactones; Peroxy Acids and R(CO)OX Compounds; R(CO)X,...

Introduction by Prof. James Panek (Volume Editor):

Volume 20 of Science of Synthesis covers largely contemporary synthetic methods that produce carboxylic acid derivatives and their associated esters. The reaction products bear a carbon atom forming three formal bonds to heteroatoms, and include acid halides, carboxylic acids, and carboxylic acid salts. Coverage is also extended to esters, lactones, and peroxy acids as well as R1(CO)OX compounds. Structural types such as R1(CO)X, where X = S, Se, Te, are also covered. This volume has been divided into thirty-five sections, largely focusing on efficient and useful methods for the preparation of carboxylic acids.

The volume has been split into two books i.e. Volume 20a and Volume 20b.

Volume 20a covers:
Three Carbon—Heteroatom Bonds: Acid Halides; Carboxylic Acids and Acid Salts.

Volume 20b covers:
Three Carbon—Heteroatom Bonds: Esters and Lactones; Peroxy Acids and R(CO)OX Compounds; R(CO)X, X = S, Se, Te.
